HEREFORDSHIRE 18TH CENTURY LEAN TO ANTIQUE OAK DRESSER
Herefordshire 18th Century Lean To Antique Oak Dresser
This Georgian period oak antique dresser is specific to the Hereford region near the Welsh borders. This style of 18th century dresser is wwwiod of back legs, they were common to this area and simply, lean against the wall for support. They are perfect for uneven flagged floors as this makes them level. Another reason for not having reer legs, is that dresser legs often rotted as they were against the back, outer walls. This Georgian antique lean to dresser is in fabulous condition and is a wonderful, original colur. All pegged construction, the sides are nicely shaped, the top is moulded and has a raised upstand to the back. All the drawers have the orignal, brass handles and keyhole covers. A lovely example that dates from arond 1770. We also have a modern, metal pair of brackets that can be used to attach the dresser to a wall. However, these are not needed, as the dresser stands / leans firmly and is very stable.
