17th Century Period Oak Antique Grain Ark from Snowdonia REF:C72K
17th Century Period Oak Antique Grain Ark from Snowdonia
This is a wonderful, so very original Welsh early 17th century antique grain ark, made in solid oak which is a fabulous colour, a design made to come apart for ease of occasional cleaning. These Welsh early period oak antique chests were used to store cornmeal, the domed ark top lifts off and were used as large troughs to transfer the cornmeal to the grinding wheel or kitchen. This is a superb example that has a five fielded panel front with panelled sides, made to come apart with large oak pegs. Originally from North Wales in Snowdonia and dates to around 1640.
