18th Century Carmarthenshire Antique Oak Potboard Welsh Dresser REF:C280F

18th Century Carmarthenshire Antique Oak Welsh Dresser

A beautiful and very original 18th century period antique oak Welsh dresser that has some how escaped ever having handles applied to the drawer fronts, this is not unique, but very unusual. Presumably the brass ware was too much of an extra expense when the dresser was ordered and the next generations got used to opening the drawers without. The drawers are easy to open as they stand proud of the carcass and with a heavier cock bead around the fronts. This Georgian antique oak dresser is a fabulous, original colour, it splits into two sections, the top rack has wonderful Blacksmith made original iron hooks with a lovely moulded cornice and original wide backboards. The potboard dresser base has turned columns with five drawers arranged around a central arch. All pegged construction, panelled sides and standing on bracket feet. In superb condition throughout, a lovely example of an 18th century Carmarthenshire Welsh oak dresser.
