Pair of 19th Century William Birch Antique Armchairs REF:C552U
Pair of 19th Century William Birch Antique Armchairs
A wonderful pair of large William Birch antique oak armchairs, perfect to use for carver dining chairs or desk chairs. They are both in very good condition and feature original rush seats that are in great condition. A large and comfortable size, the armchairs have ring turned uprights and stretcher whilst the pad feet are copied on the back uprights. A great design, William Birch was an Arts and Crafts furniture designer who specialised in chair making. Based in High Wycombe, Birch’s furniture factories were a main supplier of furniture for Liberty, London in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The rush-seated antique dining chairs he made in the 1890s, like these, are still prized for their comfort today.
